At Bella Vista Equine, we believe that no search for the perfect equine partner is complete without a thorough pre-purchase examination (PPE). This comprehensive evaluation helps you make an informed decision by identifying any underlying medical, orthopedic, or conformational concerns that could affect the horse’s future health, soundness, or suitability for your intended discipline.

While a pre-purchase exam cannot predict the long-term outcome or guarantee future performance, it is an invaluable tool for assessing the horse’s current health status and risk factors.

What’s Included in a Basic Pre-Purchase Exam:

• Complete physical examination
   

• Ocular (eye) evaluation
   

• Musculoskeletal evaluation
   

• Soundness exam with flexion tests
   

• Neurological assessment
   

• Detailed evaluation with your intended use in mind
   

Our veterinarians take the time to assess each horse thoroughly and discuss the findings in the context of your goals, whether you're looking for a competition prospect, a pleasure mount, or a long-term companion.

Additional Diagnostic Services:

We also offer advanced diagnostic imaging to enhance your PPE, including:

• Digital radiography (X-rays) – to assess joints, bone health, and conformation
   

• Ultrasonography – to evaluate tendons, ligaments, and soft tissue structures
   

• Endoscopy – for upper airway evaluation if requested
   

• Bloodwork or drug screening – available on request
   

These optional diagnostics are highly recommended, especially for performance horses or higher-value purchases.
