At Bella Vista Equine Veterinary Services, we provide advanced internal medicine diagnostics and treatments tailored to the complex needs of equine patients. Our goal is to support your horse’s health through all stages of life, with careful evaluation, thorough diagnostics, and compassionate care.

• Respiratory Disorders: We diagnose and treat a wide range of respiratory conditions including equine asthma (formerly known as RAO or heaves), bacterial and viral pneumonia, and upper airway obstructions. Diagnostic tools such as endoscopy, airway sampling (tracheal wash, BAL), and thoracic imaging help us tailor treatments to your horse’s specific condition.
   

• Metabolic Evaluations: Horses with suspected endocrine disorders, such as PPID (Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction) and Equine Metabolic Syndrome, benefit from our comprehensive metabolic testing. We use current diagnostic protocols including ACTH testing and insulin/glucose assessments to guide appropriate dietary and medical management.
   

• Gastrointestinal Disorders: From chronic colic to gastric ulcers and diarrhea, we offer in-depth evaluations of GI issues. Diagnostics may include fecal testing, abdominal ultrasound, gastroscopy, and bloodwork to identify underlying causes and create targeted treatment plans for long-term digestive health.
   

• Neurologic Examinations: Neurologic symptoms can be subtle or sudden. We perform complete neurologic exams and utilize advanced diagnostics such as cervical radiographs, CSF collection, and infectious disease testing to investigate conditions like EPM, Wobbler syndrome, and other neurologic disorders.
   

• Infectious Disease Diagnosis and Treatment: Whether your horse is experiencing fever, weight loss, respiratory signs, or generalized illness, we are equipped to identify and treat a wide array of viral and bacterial infections. Our care includes in-field diagnostics, targeted therapies, and biosecurity guidance to protect your horse and others on the property.
   

• Cardiovascular Evaluation: Heart murmurs, irregular rhythms, and poor performance can all point to cardiovascular issues. We provide thorough cardiac evaluations including auscultation, EKG, and referral coordination for echocardiography or Holter monitor if needed, ensuring your horse’s heart health is well monitored and managed.
