The Full Story
Bella Vista Equine Veterinary Services was founded in 2010 by Dr. Peter Meuse after completing an internship at the renowned Littleton Equine Medical Center in Colorado. Upon returning to central Ohio, Dr. Meuse partnered with Dr. Elizabeth Martinsen of Bella Vista Equine Reproductive Services before establishing Bella Vista as an independent practice based in Blacklick, Ohio. It quickly became clear that a central Columbus location was essential to better serve the region’s equine community.

The following year, Dr. Meuse was joined by longtime friend and colleague Dr. Nick Hudson, who had pursued specialized training in equine podiatry at Reata Equine in Texas after completing his internship at Little Equine Medical Center. Together, they began expanding the practice with a shared passion for excellence in equine veterinary medicine.

From humble beginnings in a simple shed, Bella Vista has grown into one of the largest equine practices in the region, offering comprehensive equine care. The practice remains at the forefront of veterinary medicine by utilizing cutting-edge technology and treatments, continually upgrading its equipment, biologics, and medications.

Education and innovation are at the heart of Bella Vista’s mission. Our veterinarians participate in annual continuing education programs to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and provide our clients with the most effective, evidence-based care. We are also proud to offer 24/7 emergency services, ensuring that our patients receive expert care whenever they need it.

Today, Bella Vista is home to a seven-doctor team with expertise in lameness, general medicine, dentistry, and emergency care. The clinic is also committed to mentoring the next generation of veterinary professionals by offering an off-site elective for Ohio State University veterinary students and clinical experience for veterinary technician students from various programs.
