Veterinarians

Dr. Peter Meuse
Dr. Peter Meuse grew up in Lancaster, Ohio, where he embraced his love for horses by competing at the Grand Prix level in stadium jumping. After graduation, Dr. Meuse completed an equine surgical, medical, and ambulatory internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center in Littleton, Colorado, working alongside some of the nation's foremost experts on equine lameness. He has special interest in lameness, internal medicine, chiropractic care, and acupuncture. His background with top-level equine athletes has prepared him to diagnose and treat most equine ailments.

Dr. Nick Hudson
Dr. Nick Hudson hails from Dunbar, West Virginia. After graduation, he completed an equine surgical, medical, and ambulatory internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center in Littleton, Colorado, where he worked alongside some of the nation's leading lameness clinicians. Dr. Hudson is a farrier as well as a veterinarian, and he brings this unique approach to lameness to Bella Vista Equine. He completed farrier school at Cornell University, where he was trained by Mike Wildenstein, CJF, FWCF (Hon). While at Reata Equine Hospital in Weatherford Texas, Dr. Hudson worked in their Podiatry Center with Dr. Britt Conklin, managing podiatry cases including severe laminitis, navicular syndrome (caudal heel pain), and conformational hoof defects. He enjoys working closely with owners and farriers to keep our equine companions comfortable and working at their best. Dr. Nick Hudson has a special interest in podiatry, lameness, and internal medicine.

Dr. Olivia Hegedus
Raised in Northwestern Ohio, Dr. Olivia Hegedus grew up riding in 4-H and local shows. By riding along with her local veterinarian, Dr. Hegedus discovered her passion for animal healthcare. On a fast pitch softball scholarship, Dr. Hegedus received a bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Akron. Dr. Hegedus attended The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She completed a one-year rotating internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center in Littleton, Colorado. Her main areas of interest are internal medicine, emergency and critical care, and preventative medicine.
In her spare time, Dr. Hegedus enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Austin, and her daughter, Lucie. They love hiking with their Golden Retrievers, Buck and Jolene. Dr. Hegedus also enjoys spending time with her Thoroughbred, Figaro and feisty pony named 12 Gauge.
Education

Dr. Carolyn A. Oehrig
Dr. Carolyn A. Oehrig is native to central Maryland where she grew up riding and competing with horses in the sport of eventing up to the preliminary level. Dr. Oehrig completed her Bachelo of Science in 2015 at Haverford College, majoring in astrophysics but concentrating on biophysics, studying the mechanics of animal motion in raptors. In May of 2019, she graduated from the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech with a focus in equine medicine. She then completed a one-year internship at Reata Equine Hospital in Weatherford, Texas, where she gained experience in sports medicine, reproduction, and general practice on large populations of western sport horses as well as rescue equids. She joined Bella Vista in the spring of 2020, and quickly made Columbus home permanently. She further expanded her skill set by completing her certification of Animal Chiropractic in 2022.
Dr. Oehrig loves all aspects of equine medicine but especially enjoys sports medicine, podiatry, and reproduction. In her spare time, Dr. Oehrig enjoys playing tennis and trying new restaurants with her husband, Robert. She also likes to play and spend time outside with her two children, Francis and James, and her dog, Daisy. She’s also an Orange Theory fanatic and can be found at many 5 a.m. classes before she gets in the truck for a day of vet work!

Dr. Jacqueline Jennings
Dr. Jacqueline Jennings is originally from Michigan and grew up riding horses from a young age, training in a variety of disciplines from dressage to western performance. Upon graduation from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, she completed a medical and surgical internship at Tennessee Equine Hospital. Dr. Jennings developed a special interest in medicine and critical care and went on to complete a
fellowship in internal medicine at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky. She gained extensive experience with internal medicine, ultrasonography, and emergency care. Dr. Jennings is excited to be back in Ohio to serve the horse community. She enjoys all aspects of equine medicine, but has special interests in internal medicine, emergency care, and sports medicine.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Jennings is a marathon runner and enjoys hiking and traveling with her husband and fur babies. They can commonly be found exploring the local metro parks and enjoying the Columbus food scene.

Dr. Kavita Bushong
Dr. Kavita Bushong is originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she grew up on her family's dairy farm. She was an active Pony Club member focusing on tetrathlon and eventing with her sport pony. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in Dairy Science where she split her weekends between hiking and horses. Dr. Bushong then moved to Columbus, Ohio, to attend The Ohio State University for veterinary school, where she spent most of her time focusing on Large Animal ambulatory medicine. After graduation, she joined Bella Vista for a one year ambulatory internship, and has stayed on to join as an associate. She loves all aspects of equine medicine, but especially enjoys emergency and critical care, sports medicine, and preventive care.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Bushong can be found hiking and camping with her golden retriever, Wesley, eventing, and trail riding with her favorite OTTB, or taking long road trips.
Education

Dr. Sidney Long
Dr. Sidney Long joined Bella Vista in 2025 as an associate veterinarian, bringing a strong foundation in equine medicine and a particular passion for emergency care. Dr. Long earned her Bachelor of Animal Science in 2020 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2024 from The Ohio State University, where she also rode competitively for the OSU Western Equestrian Team and was a member of the OSU Ski Team. Following graduation, Dr. Long completed a rigorous internship at Rhinebeck Equine in New York.

Dr. Long’s clinical interests include emergency medicine and collaborative case management. She values the dynamic team environment at Bella Vista and enjoys working alongside a diverse group of doctors to deliver the best equine care possible.

Raised in the 4H program, Dr. Long has long been immersed in the equine world. Her academic achievements include being the first author on three peer-reviewed research papers published in AJVR, Veterinary Parasitology, and BMC Veterinary Research.
​
Outside the clinic, Dr. Long is often outdoors hiking or training her dogs in agility and nosework. Her approach to veterinary medicine is centered on individualized care: “I enjoy coming up with a diagnostic and treatment plan that works for the individual horse and owner. Every case is unique and requires a unique plan.”

Staff

Andrea
Andrea is from Granville, Ohio. She was introduced to horses by her parents at a very young age. She immediately recognized her love for the sport and started riding at the age of 6. She later joined 4-H and then began competing on the Quarter Horse circuit, showing alongside her mom shortly after. Her two QH geldings enjoyed their hard earned retirement at her parents' farm until late in their 20s.
Andrea graduated from The Ohio State University in 2013 with a B.S. Degree, majoring In Animal Sciences and minoring in Biosciences with a focus in Equine Science. She completed a 2 year undergraduate clinical internship in the Equine Medicine Department at The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine, where she was then published as a coauthor in the American Journal of Veterinary Research helping develop ProStride. Shortly after graduation, she completed her pharmacology/pharmaceutical sales certification through the National Association of Pharmaceutical Sales Representatives.

Andrea more recently has been taking jumping lessons on her favorite grey warmblood mare, Stella. When Andrea is not at the barn she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, teaching and practicing yoga and hiking with her & Peter's multiple dogs.

Andrea was introduced to the Bella Vista team in 2015. She thoroughly enjoys working at this practice and loves the enthusiasm each doctor has for the equine field. She appreciates the varied and valuable aspects the six veterinarians bring to the clinic and is proud to be part of the excellent medicine they're able to provide to their valued clients and patients.

Emily
Emily grew up in Iowa with a passion to work with horses. She bought her first horse, Sasha Bonanza, and learned to train and ride with her. They showed in 4-H and FFA as well as open shows. She graduated Ellsworth Community College with an Equine Management degree. Emily moved to Ohio shortly after graduating where she has worked at various equine facilities before coming to join the Bella Vista Equine team. In Emily’s spare time, she enjoys training and showing her three Australian Shepherds, King, Zeus and Baker in agility.

Becky
Becky works part-time for Bella Vista Equine Veterinary Services and started in October 2022. Becky’s medical background revolves more around humans than horses as she retired after 31 years at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
She is learning about horses and enjoys being around them. She is very impressed with all the physicians and staff at Bella Vista and is proud to be part of the team. Becky resides in Gahanna with her husband, Mark. In her spare time, Becky enjoys spending time with her three children and three grandchildren.

Laura
Laura grew up in central Ohio. Her love for horses started at a young age and she spent most of junior years showing hunters, jumpers, and equitation at the local and A circuit level. After attending The Ohio State University, she began working as a show groom/barn manager for a hunter jumper barn, gaining extensive knowledge in equine care. During this time, she bought her own horse, Scooby, who she enjoyed showing at venues such as Palm Beach International, Kentucky Horse Park, and Great Lakes Equestrian Festival.
In 2020 Laura turned professional and became an assistant trainer while maintaining her job as a barn manager.

Laura joined Bella Vista Equine in the spring of 2023 where she has appreciated furthering her education in equine health and wellness. She enjoys the variety of working both in the office as well as on the trucks as a veterinary assistant.
In her free time, Laura still enjoys riding her horse, Scooby, and hiking with her dog, Teddy.

Lizzie
Lizzie Orosz was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She had a love for horses and started riding at a young age. Lizzie has a business degree from Otterbein University and, during her working internship, worked with a veterinarian/barn owner and trainer and quickly realized her love for the veterinary aspect. Lizzie returned to school and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Equine Veterinary Technology from Otterbein University, as well as a small animal Veterinary Technology Associate's Degree from Columbus State Community College in the spring of 2025. Lizzie is an active registered veterinary technician.

Lizzie joined Bella Vista to gain more experience and learn from all the doctors and veterinary assistants. Since starting with Bella Vista in February 2024, Lizzie has learned about the care and treatment of horses and has grown as an individual and credits the staff of BVEV for her advancement.
​
In her spare time, Lizzie rides at Otterbein University and helps with the IHSA team. Lizzie also has a retired horse named Pokey who resides in Kentucky and is the reason she got into veterinary medicine. Lizzie also enjoys spending time hiking with her rescue dog, Andy.

Erin
Erin Maus became part of Bella Vista Equine in 2023, bringing with her over two decades of experience in the human services field, with a specialized focus on homeless services in Franklin County. A Licensed Social Worker and Wright State University graduate, Erin has dedicated her career to supporting vulnerable populations with compassion and purpose. Her transition into the world of equine care and education may seem like a shift in direction, but at its core, it reflects the same passion that has guided her life’s work helping people grow, heal, and find their path forward.
​
At Bella Vista Equine, Erin wears many hats administratively for our front office, as well as serving as our Student Program Coordinator. She plays a key role in guiding and supporting students as they begin or advance their journey in the equine industry. From managing program logistics to being a constant source of encouragement and wisdom, Erin is deeply invested in the success and well-being of each student with whom she works. Her background in social work gives her a unique ability to meet people where they are, communicate clearly, and foster a supportive learning environment.

Outside of work, Erin enjoys spending time outdoors gardening, hiking, and connecting with nature whenever she can. She’s happily married to her best friend and the proud mother of two adult daughters who are charting their own paths.

Sarah
Sarah officially joined Bella Vista in the winter of 2023, but her connection to the practice goes back much further. As the wife of Dr. Nick Hudson, she has supported Bella Vista in various capacities since 2011 and has been closely involved in its growth over the years.
​
With a degree in psychology and a background in project coordination, Sarah brings a thoughtful, systems-oriented approach to her role. While living in Ohio during Dr. Hudson’s time in vet school, she worked as the billing coordinator for special projects at Ashland International, where she also earned her Yellow Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma. Sarah has applied those skills at Bella Vista to help streamline processes, improve efficiency, and develop internal training materials.
​
Sarah loves being part of a team where everyone is aligned around a shared mission and genuinely cares about the clients and patients they serve. Outside the clinic, she teaches yoga and meditation, and enjoys spending time in nature with her family. She and Dr. Hudson have two daughters and take every chance they get to camp, raft, and explore the outdoors together.

Jessica Eagle
Jessica Eagle joined Bella Vista Equine as a Veterinary Assistant with a deep-rooted passion for horses and animal care. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary Medicine from the University of Findlay in 2023 and completed her Master’s in Animal Sciences at The Ohio State University in May of 2025.

Jessica has worked as a veterinary assistant for over a year and has a strong interest in equine reproduction and lameness. Growing up surrounded by animals, she knew early on that she wanted to pursue a career working with them. Her journey with horses began in third grade when she joined 4-H and she has been showing American Quarter Horses since the seventh grade. While at Findlay, she competed on the IHSA Western Equestrian Team, further deepening her connection to the industry.

At Bella Vista, Jessica loves combining her academic background and personal experience to provide compassionate, knowledgeable care to clients and their horses. Her personal approach is treating each horse just as she would her own. When she's not working or riding, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, Luna and Marley, golfing with her dad, and cheering on her favorite football teams with friends and family.
